Global Colour
Hair colouring, or hair dyeing, is the practice of changing the hair colour. The main reasons for this are cosmetic: to cover gray or white hair, to change to a colour regarded as more fashionable or desirable, or to restore the original hair colour after it has been discolored by hairdressing processes or sun bleaching.
Ombre/Balayage
Ombré is when a stylist uses the balayage technique to create a colour contrast that begins darkest at the roots, blends into a rich medium shade towards the middle, and finishes with the lightest parts at the ends of the hair.
Colour Correction
Color correction involves either toning out unwanted brassiness, dying your hair darker, or lightening your hair even more to achieve the desired effect.
PERMS
Regular/Spiral Perm
A regular perm is done with a different size of rods that is placed flat against the head, rather than vertically. Tell your hairstylist what type of curls you want, so that they will know which size of rod to use when they are creating your regular perm.
Japanese/Permanent Straightening
Japanese/Permanent hair straightening relies on a special solution that's applied to hair, similar to a flat perm. This solution breaks down the hair's bonds that give it shape, allowing it to become pin-straight when the flat-iron is applied.
Digital Perm
A digital perm is a perm that uses hot rods with the temperature regulated by a machine with a digital display, hence the name. The process is otherwise similar to that of a traditional perm. Hairstylists usually call it a "hot perm." Digital perms last longer and achieve a more natural look.
Down Perm
A "down perm," also known as a "volume reduction perm" or "down wave perm," is a hair treatment designed to reduce volume and manage unruly hair by chemically straightening and smoothing it. Unlike traditional perms that aim to add curls or waves, down perms focus on flattening the hair to create a sleeker, more controlled look. This technique is particularly popular among individuals with thick, coarse, or voluminous hair who want to achieve a more manageable and less poofy hairstyle.
Men's Iron Perm
A Men's Iron Perm is a popular hair treatment in which hair is styled using a combination of chemical perming solution and heat styling with a flat iron or similar heated tool. The goal is to create a natural-looking wave or curl, adding texture and volume to men's hair. This type of perm is particularly favored for its ability to achieve a stylish, modern look with a relaxed and natural finish.
